Gina Yu

Counselor in Training

My passion is to help hurting people through a holistic, integrated approach that incorporates Adlerian theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My desire as a therapist is to understand the whole self of the client and to empower and encourage them by building a strong therapeutic relationship.

Along those lines, I want to collaborate with clients to identify mental, emotional, and physical areas of concern and to develop and implement strategies to strengthen and heal from past trauma.

In particular, I am motivated to work with individuals struggling with issues specific to women, relationships and family, Asian American identity, and anxiety. My style of counseling is calm, compassionate, and attentive.

Ultimately, I am committed to providing a safe environment for clients to process their personal issues and work together towards healing.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and teaching certification in Art Education from the University of Illinois. I spent many years teaching in the suburbs of Chicago and am now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Illinois University.
