Gina Yu, MS, LPC, NCC

(she/her)
Trauma Therapist

My passion is to help hurting individuals through a holistic, integrated approach that incorporates person-centered, feminist, and multicultural theories with mindfulness and expressive arts therapy. My desire as a therapist is to understand the whole self of the client and to empower and encourage them through a strong therapeutic relationship.

As a therapist who is also a person of color, I want to collaborate with clients who are motivated to explore their multicultural identity to address and heal from their trauma. In particular, I am inspired to work with individuals struggling with relationships, women's issues, family of origin, and BIPOC/Asian American identity. My style of counseling is calm, compassionate, and attentive.

Ultimately, I am committed to providing a safe environment for clients to process their personal issues and work together towards healing.

Education

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and teaching certification in Art Education from the University of Illinois. I spent many years teaching in the suburbs of Chicago before completing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Illinois University.
