About the event

Clients come to us for help in healing a range of traumatic impacts. The severity of their trauma influences not only the treatment, but also therapists themselves. This workshop is designed to help therapists understand more about the diverse ways clients with trauma present in therapy. We will also explore ways therapists can stay attuned to their own experience with traumatized clients to be mindful of reenactments, minimize vicarious trauma, and support self care.

Goal: Therapists will deepen their knowledge of working with clients who present with a range of relational trauma and will be more skilled in tailoring their approach and caring for themselves in the work.

Objectives: Program participants will:

  • Provide education about the different impact of emotional, physical, and sexual trauma on clients
  • Explore the ways in which we as clinicians may have to work differently depending on the severity of the trauma and clients' symptoms
  • Understand the ways that we might be impacted personally (ie. we are likely to experience greater vicarious trauma if the client is disassociated or dysregulated)

Fee: $65

Includes 2 CEs for LSWs/LCSWs and LPCs/LCPCs
